Difference Between Forex Demo and Real Account

Trading on a forex demo account and trading on a real account may look almost identical on the surface. The charts are the same. The platform is the same. The buy and sell buttons are in the exact same place.

But once risk enters the picture, the experience changes dramatically.

Understanding the difference between a forex demo and real account is one of the most important steps for new traders.

A demo account helps you learn the platform and test strategies without financial risk, while a live account introduces real market conditions, emotional pressure, and actual financial consequences.

Understanding which account type you’re using and what it includes will help you get the most out of your strategy and the trading platform.

  • Everything in the open demo, plus:
  • Price alerts
  • Trailing stop loss
  • Break even
  • AI Studio and the Marketplace

3. Live account

A live account uses real money. Trades are executed on real markets at real prices. Everything you do has financial consequences.

  • Real P&L
  • Full access to all features and tools
